CD Projekt starts work on Project Hadar: the new world from the makers of The Witcher takes shape

After several years of design work, the Polish studio has completed the “world vision” for its first new intellectual property since Cyberpunk.

CD Projekt announced that Project Hadar, the new original project from the studio behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, has completed its world-definition phase. Co-CEO Michał Nowakowski explained that it had been the studio's biggest undertaking so far and had taken several years, but that the team now has a coherent vision of this world and its key elements.

Nowakowski specified that the team has begun work on the game itself, but that the project has not yet entered pre-production. In other words, it is a very early stage: it will be quite a while before anything concrete is shown.

In September the studio said the team dedicated to Hadar numbered more than 30 people and that the goal was to reach up to 50 developers by the end of the year. A job listing published in June spoke of an immersive and emotional open-world experience, but there are no official details yet on the setting, the exact genre or the platforms.

Hadar joins an already very busy schedule for CD Projekt, which is working on The Witcher 4, the first chapter of a new trilogy, and on the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
