How an edition is made

Each edition uses only the daily reading (around 05:00 UTC) of the Steam games tracked by Statcade and compares it with the day before. If the day before is missing, that day has no edition.

The lead goes to the game with the largest percentage change, up or down, among those with at least 5,000 players the day before. The headline states only the fact, with the number. A value of 0 or a missing value does not count. The same game does not lead two editions in a row: if the largest move belongs to the game that led the previous day’s edition, the next one leads, and the page says so.

An edition is to be read with caution when it fails the same checks Statcade applies to the daily reading: the catalog’s median game falls by more than 50% or rises by more than 100% from the day before, or the reading of one of the two days does not match the hourly sample of the same hour (median ratio outside 0.70–1.43). In that case the edition is published without a headline, without risers or fallers and without the comparison with the day before.

An edition is closed once and never changes afterwards: number, headline and figures stay the same. Editions compiled later from the history say so under the masthead.
