Control Resonant passes one million copies: the fastest-selling game in Remedy's history
About three weeks after its digital release, the new Control game reached a milestone that took Alan Wake 2 two months.
Remedy Entertainment announced on October 15 that Control Resonant has sold one million copies. The Finnish studio thanked players on social media, and communications director Thomas Puha described the result as a solid start.
The game launched digitally at the end of September, and the million came in about three weeks. The studio's previous record belonged to Alan Wake 2, which took about two months to reach the same figure. Control Resonant thus becomes the fastest-selling title in the history of Remedy, the studio behind Max Payne, Quantum Break and the first Control.
The figure is all the more significant because the launch was not a smooth one: shortly after the digital release the game was cracked and spread illegally. Even so, sales held up, and several fans urged others to get the game to support the studio. Meanwhile the physical editions have also arrived, which could push the numbers further.
For Remedy this is important news: its games are highly regarded by critics, but their sales have not always matched those of the big blockbusters. One million copies in three weeks shows that the new Control found its audience right away.
